Early March - Hikes and a Hamster

Trying to keep updated with things here, and since the last post we've added another mouth to feed. Noodles the hamster came home this week from the pet store. The girls are very excited to have him, although I expect that to fade soon, but for now the little guy is almost always being played with. He probably can't wait until they lose interest.

Today Jen and I set out to climb Mt. Liberty. We decided in January she was going to try and hike this one this winter, and since winter is running out quickly today was the day. The girls slept over my parents to make this possible so thanks again for that! Sounds like thay had a lot of fun and it was also a good practice run for our annual spring getaway/Christmas present coming up in a few weeks. Not perfect weather, but plenty wintry for the 8 mile hike up NH's 18th highest peak. The hike up this 4,459 foot high mountain climbs 3,250 feet from Franconia Notch to the rocky summit. On a nice day there are great views. Today was more of a dramatic views day with clouds and snow coming and going and a good breeze in the 15 degree air, but still not to bad, for winter. The hike took us 7 hours round trip and we stopped to have a burger afterwards as a reward. Jen did great, she was like the little engine that could. I asked her dozens of times if she wanted to turn around and she kept saying she was going to make it, and she did! She said she may not walk for a week now, but she made it and we had lots of fun and have lots of pictures from the day.

And last weekend I climbed Mt. Washington with a couple friends. Similar but colder weather but a great hike. Plenty of pictures from that one too if you're interested and I'll let them tell that story.

So that's what we were up to this week. Pretty busy finishing off winter and spring was definitely in the air today, finally!! For now however the pictures from the hike today and Noodles are here and the pictures from Mt. Washington are here. That's all for now!
