Wildlife & Beaches
Last Sunday we went up to the Maine Wildlife Preserve in Gray for the day where the girls got to see pretty much all the animals you might come across in the woods around our part of the country. We packed a picnic lunch and then went around the park before going to LL Bean to get some flip flops and stuffed animals. They both really enjoyed it the park and there's a bunch of pictures of the animals that I know many people may not want to see but I thought the girls might like to see them again so they're in the album. It's a great place to spend the afternoon, especially for kids if you're looking for something to do with them. Only an hour away, if you don't make a wrong turn, then it's an hour and 45 minutes. Either way it's fun once you get there. Pretty much like a zoo only with woodland instead of exotic animals.
We've also gone to the beach on a couple nice afternoons for dinner, walks and a picnic lunch. It usually turns out a bit cool and breezy down there this time of year, but it's still nice to get the fresh air and sunshine. We've explored the trails, beaches and forts at Odiorne State Park further and Brooke loves to throw rocks and look for sea glass, so we usually stop somewhere to check for it in our travels. We're getting quite the collection since we started it last July on Chebeague. Emily doesn't quite get it and keeps putting rocks in the bag but she's trying. She wanders all over the beaches and paths now. Pretty amazing for someone who was still crawling a month ago.
So, there's pictures of a lot of that here if you want to see them. Other than that not a lot else is going on with us. Brooke asked to go on a hike tomorrow but the weather isn't looking so hot for that. We may go looking for beavers since she saw them on Go Diego Go and now wants to go find one. We'll see. Then next weekend Jen and I are going to Bar Harbor for our Christmas present to each other. There should be plenty of pictures from that if you're interested so check back in a little while. That's all for now.

Easter and Grampy Dew's Birthday
Since our last update the weather has gone back to being more seasonal around these parts. Gone are the 70 and 80 degree days for now and we're back into the 40's and 50's. We did take advantage of one day that topped out at 60 degrees to go for our first family hike of the season up Mt. Agamenticus in York. It's a short easy trip but it's been the kickoff to our hiking season for the past few years so we decided to stick with that tradition and got a nice afternoon for our first stroll of the season.
Easter also came and went, with much less hoopla than it usually has. We did the egg hunt and baskets of course, then had a small dinner at my parents with just us and them and after that went to Jen's parents for more food, goodies and another egg hunt. There were no huge family gatherings for dinner this year but that didn't stop us from having lots of good food and desserts. We enjoyed it all and had a relatively quiet and relaxing day with our families. Hope all of you did the same.
Finally today was Grampy Dew's birthday. Jen and I made a big steak dinner because that's what he wanted to have on his day. Brooke helped Jen make a cake and made her own card too. She's next in line for these birthday parties. Less than a month to go until our baby girl turn 4 years old. Man does time fly by!
Anyhow to see some pictures of all this from the last couple weeks you can click right here. I'll try and put up some videos of the girls soon too so check back in a bit. Emily is really amazing at walking and even dancing for someone who's only been at it for three weeks now. She took her time getting there but now she's everywhere. Once I edit them down to 30 second clips or so I'll put some up. For now that's it. Hope you enjoy!
