The Gale River on the way to the trailhead

That us at the beginning of the trail

We let the New Guy, or the plow, break the trail on his first winter hike

A few small brooks to cross but nothing major this time

This is the back side of a moose as he ran away from us on the trail

Ryan trying to get reception with the GPS

This is Ryan's mid hike snack and artwork

This is my idea of mid hike snack

The New Guy near the summit, pretty much spent. He said it was the most exhausted he's ever been

The ridge trail to the summit

Just below the summit, 5-6 feet of snow here

The summit. Nice weather for mid April, don't you think?

A couple of summit shots in the zero degree windchill

Ryan in the old fire towers base

One of our only views, the Pemi wilderness through the clouds

And a brief glimpse of Galehead and the Twins

One last look before the 6.2 mile trek back to the truck

I think Alan Jackson said, "It's tin o'clock somewhere." No? Well, something like that. Nice to see my man Steve-O (the original Steve-O, by the way). He must hike for the experience. It certainly can't be for the views! And no New Guy, now that I'm old I will not cease with my childish height jokes. So be prepared. I've got a whole sack (of jokes) with your name on it. Waah ha ha.
brett i honesty wish i had a good rebuttle about the new guy, but i do not. the only thing i can tell you is that he sprained his ankle carrying a cat house (feline cat house) down the stairs at one of amy's family members houses, and when he reached the bottom of the stairs he had to duck a beam and lost his balance falling on the concete floor. so you may not see him in any more hiking pictures for awhile. I guess that is kind of funny.
Sorry Steve-O. But, yes it is a pretty funny visual.
