Last year we tried to shorten up the drive and go to the Camden Hills, but there were black flies there, so this year we sucked it up and made the trip back to Acadia where there are almost none of the bloodsuckers to be found, which makes it well worth the four hour ride when you'll be spending most of your time outdoors. We headed up Saturday morning and met Mike and Jess there. The first night was chilly, down into the 40's, but the next morning it warmed right up and never looked back. 75 on Sunday and 80 on Monday under blue skies made for a great weekend. During the day we had picnics, ice cream, hikes, hunted for sea glass, walked around town, cooked out and more. At night we had campfires under the stars, made smores, and had some great beers Mike brought while we hung out in the evenings and it was great to catch up with them since we hadn't seen them in a while. The girls were all great and had a good time too. Jen even said it was her most relaxing trip with the kids ever now that they are all a little older and more independent, so our first camping trip of the season was a big success and is in the books. Now we have everything ready to run smoothly for the big summer trip when we will be back there for a week. I don't want to rush summer along but I already can't wait. For now to see the pictures from this trip you can click right here. That's about it for now. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend In Maine

Catching up from April and May
Well, once again it's been a while since my last post. I was doing good keeping up with this, but the last few weeks have been really busy around here. Lots of yard work and house work, Grampy Dew's, Brooke's and my birthdays, Mothers Day and baseball has started up. Phew! Brooke turned 7 and had two parties, one for family and one for some classmates. Mothers day was 90 degrees and we tried to get to the beach but it was like the 4th of July down there, so we just hung around and played in the yard until Jen had to work. We've also torn out some bushes, re-seeded part of the yard, painted some of the trim on the house as well as the entire dining room too. I'm tired just writing it! I also went down to North Carolina for a three day weekend to finally achieve my goal of hiking the highest peak in the east. Four of us drove 19 hours to get there, camped, hiked 19 miles, and then drove home the next day. When the dust settled we had 6,684 foot Mount Mitchell added to the resume. So everyone here is good, just busy, and this weekend if the weather is nice we're headed for Acadia for some R & R. Not a minute too soon! So for now, there are a bunch of pictures that recap the last month or so here. There's also a separate album here for Mount Mitchell in case anyone wants to see that or the guys want to download some of them. And that seems like about enough for now.
